Choose Credit Card Rewards Based on Shopping Habits
Dec 3rd
Today there are so many reward credit cards that choosing one that fits best for you can be a daunting decision. There are reward credit cards that earn airline miles, cash, hotel points and even free gas. To determine the card that will work best for you will ultimately depend on your shopping and travel habits.
You first need to take a look at the shopping reward cards. There is a Costco American Express card where you can earn cash back on all Costco purchases. This is great if you do a lot of shopping at Costco. The Costco credit card also offers an increased cash back when you purchase gas as well. It also works as your Costco membership card which reduces the amount of plastic you need to keep with you.
If you are an avid traveler, then you will want to consider a card that gives you miles or hotel rewards point for your purchases. There are mileage reward cards for a specific airline and others that accrue miles that you can use on any airline. Most often the airline specific cards give you a better conversion of purchases to miles over the general cards, so make sure to check the reward schedule to determine what will give you the best return. The same thing applies to hotel rewards cards. Most hotel cards will give you bonus miles when using their card at their hotels, so be on the look out for those if you tend to favor one hotel over another.
Depending on the card you choose, you should definitely avoid any with an annual fee. There are so many free rewards cards out there, it doesn’t make sense to pay an annual fee to carry that card around. Unless you use the card so much that the rewards outweigh the fees, you should be able to find a free card that gives you the rewards of your choice.
As you can see there are so many reward credit cards availble that finding the one that compliments you is not an easy choice. Make sure to review all the terms and conditions of the cards to look for hidden fees that may hinder the reward return. Why shop with a card that doesn’t earn rewards when credit card companies are willing to pay you to use their cards.
